Edward “Eddie” Nsafoa is one of Catalyst For Africa’s key leaders in Ghana. Since 2000, he has worked with me in ministry. He is a family man, a very hard worker, and an evangelist who has helped plant over 20 churches! When we ministered in rural villages and presented the Jesus film, I would run the projector, and Eddie would preach. It was more effective to have Eddie preach the paint off the wall in his native language, instead of me preaching through a translator!
Eddie called a few days ago, and I heard desperation in his voice. I could tell he was in need. He told me the borehole (water well) he had drilled when his house was built was drying up. Eddie needed to drill a deeper hole to supply water for his family and the community surrounding his home. I have been in Eddie’s home when little children have knocked on his gate and kindly asked if they could have a gallon or two of water. Without hesitation, Eddie and his wife, Regina, opened their gate and allowed all who were in need to receive water.
In the past 17 years, I can’t recall a time when Eddie has asked me for anything. By the grace of God and because of your generosity, we were able to send money immediately to Eddie and told him to start drilling right away. I just received a phone call from Eddie, whose voice was competing with the roar of the drill and the excited voices of children and their mothers. The bore hole has been successfully drilled and water is flowing again.
Jesus said in John 6:35, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” In John 7:37b-38, Jesus also said, “If anyone thirst, let him come to me and drink. He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.’” Eddie is a true follower of Jesus, and the folks in his community know it. He shares the “living water” with them, as well as the water that quenches their earthly thirst.
Remember, together we are changing the world in Jesus’s name, one relationship at a time.
